Another bulb type we’ve tested is blacklight bulbs, which have some interesting characteristics.
Overall, we mostly use the standard white fluorescent bulbs on our own lights.
Depending on your water conditions and the time of year, you might have decent success with green bulbs.
One thing to keep in mind with Bo-Jo lights is that we are not just attracting fish with our lights, but bugs…to be able to feed them to the fish.
You can take a dampened Scotch-Brite (or similar) scrubbing pad and wipe down the inside of the lamp reflector, and the bug-whacking cords. Some people used to use solvents like oven cleaner, but this is probably not good for the light or for the environment.
Our light puts bugs on the surface of the water, which is where most of the fish are going to snap them up anyways.
Another advantage of our above water lighting systems is that you don’t have your fishing line getting tangled all the time with underwater light cables.
Your Bo-Jo Fishlight carries a two (2) year warranty for lights registered through our website or via the postcard included with every light. Otherwise there is a one (1) year warranty. Our simple warranty terms are here.
For both hanging and swingarm models, Bo-Jo Fishlight’s should be set up to have the light dome between 18″ and 36″ above the highest potential water level.
Our lights work on 110 AC electric power. Plug your Bo-Jo Fishlight into a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protected outlet. NEVER operate a Bo-Jo Fishlight on an unprotected outlet.
Your GFCI protected outlet should be securely affixed at least 3-feet above the maximum water height. Additionally, be sure that the GFCI is operational and that the test/reset switches preform properly.
Further GFCI requirements are below:
Inline GFCI Requirements:
Class A GFCI, 4-6 mA Trip Level
Rating: 125 VAC 60Hz, 15A
UL Listed for Outdoor Usage
Test and Reset Buttons
Generally, we offer free shipping for orders from our website. Our light is made of quality parts and a lot of metal, so it is expensive to pack and ship.
My friend and I were fishing one day and we started talking about an idea for a dock light that would do exactly what our current fishlight does.
We designed it and constructed prototypes together. Then we went into business as “Bo-Jo Fishlight, LLC”.
Our names are Bob Hunnicutt and Joe Pearson.
Joe retired from our firm in 2011, but our light’s name is forever!
People commonly search on BoJoe, BoJo or Bo-Joe to find us, so we guess we are nearly a household name now!

Having grown the online business has allowed us to be found by customers in Western states like Texas, California, Utah, Montana and Washington where we haven’t had any dealer network. Additionally, customers from New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ohio and New Jersey seem to be buying more of our lights in the last few years. We can only attribute that to the success of our website presence.
